4-1-24   THOUGHTS

WISDOM is personified and commended in our reading this morning.  The way that God has used words at the center of His design for mankind is amazing.  From the passage below to the parable of the sower, words as the containers of ideas, have been front and center.  The maturing of the mind of man to follow the mind of God is the essence of the idea.  Not all words and patterns of words are equal.  Here, wisdom sets over against foolishness.  In God’s Word, the TRUTH is set over against the LIE!  Our proper diligent pursuit of this process leads us to Jesus and to eternal life!

Prov 8:1-14      Does not wisdom call, And understanding lift up her voice?  2  On top of the heights beside the way, Where the paths meet, she takes her stand;  3  Beside the gates, at the opening to the city, At the entrance of the doors, she cries out:  4  "To you, O men, I call, And my voice is to the sons of men.  5  "O naive ones, understand prudence; And, O fools, understand wisdom. 6  "Listen, for I will speak noble things; And the opening of my lips will reveal right things. 7  "For my mouth will utter truth; And wickedness is an abomination to my lips. 8  "All the utterances of my mouth are in righteousness; There is nothing crooked or perverted in them. 9  "They are all straightforward to him who understands, And right to those who find knowledge. 10  "Take my instruction and not silver, And knowledge rather than choicest gold. 11  "For wisdom is better than jewels; And all desirable things cannot compare with her. 12  "I, wisdom, dwell with prudence, And I find knowledge and discretion.  13  "The fear of the LORD is to hate evil; Pride and arrogance and the evil way And the perverted mouth, I hate. 14  "Counsel is mine and sound wisdom; I am understanding, power is mine.
Ps 19:7    The law of the LORD is perfect, restoring the soul; The testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.
Php 2:5    Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus,
John 13:14    "If I then, the Lord and the Teacher, washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet.
Eph 5:2   and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma.

My Prayer:
O Father God, we thank You for revealing Your mind to us.  By Your words, we are made wise unto salvation.  By Your revealing, we can know You!  As the deer pants for the water, may our souls long after You with loving desire to know the fullness of Your love.  Keep us from being diverted or scattered in our search.  Focus us that we may find You with all maturity.  Complete in us, the task You have begun.  In the name of Jesus,    Amen.
